They’re generally more skeptical and jaded than other groups, and for good reason. In the past, salespeople and marketers have contacted seniors out of the blue try to sell in something that they didn’t need and then ban it. They’ve been treated like a dollar sign and not human being, but seniors are people too with emotions and feelings just like everyone else. And they’re tired of being treated like object. They want ads that are relevant

to their lives, not irrelevant noise. They want brands that improve their lives, not empty promises. And they definitely don’t want to be pressured into buying something they don’t need. As marketers, we all can improve our image among seniors. Listen to what they want and need in create product and services that improve their lives. Only then we will be able to build relationship with them, based on trust and mutual respect. So today’s topic is “10 Things You Need to Know to Successfully Market to Seniors.” Well, when it comes to marketing, we all know that one size does not fit all. Different demographics require different approaches, and that’s especially true when it comes to seniors. As a population ages, more and more businesses are trying to figure out how to market to seniors, but marketing to seniors is not the same as marketing to other demographics. Well, here are 10 things that you need to know if you want to successfully market seniors.

First, what makes seniors demographic unique and how to speak their language? Second, how to market to seniors using five key characteristics? Three, what are some common myths above seniors? Four, what are seniors concerned about? What keeps them up at night? Five, understand the unique needs and wants of senior consumers. Six, why you should listen to seniors on products and services? Seven, discover trends among senior consumers. Eight, what do seniors look for before they buy? Nine, what is the key to reaching the senior market? And 10, how marketing will change in the future to better serve seniors? Data is key to understanding your ideal customers in what they want. I’ll explain how artificial intelligence allows you to collect user data and identify the people who are most likely

to buy from you. First topic is what makes seniors demographic unique and how to speak their language? Well, what makes seniors demographic unique is that this generation has experienced a wide range of historical events. They have seen both world wars, the great oppression and the rise of technology. This has given them a unique perspective on life. I’ll go through the various generation. The greatest generation is born between 1901 and 1927. The silent generation is born between 1928 and 1945. The baby boomers born between 1946 and 1964. Seniors have unique buying habits. They are more likely to research approaches before making it. And they are also more likely to buy online. Seniors are increasingly using social media to stay connected with family and friends. In fact, nearly half of all seniors now use Facebook. So as the senior population continues to grow, companies would need to adapt their marketing strategies to reach this important demographic.

Well, what makes the senior demographic unique is that they are the first generation of the Americans to benefit from advances in medical science and technology. So I’ll cite some information from the US Department of Health in human services. Well, here are a few things that make them unique. They’re the largest and the most influential generation in history. With over 76 million people born between 1946 and 1964, the baby boomers represent a huge portion of this population. They’re also the wealthiest and the best educated generation in history. They’re active, engaged, and connected seniors. And just because they’re getting older doesn’t mean that they’re slowing down. In fact, many baby boomers are leading active lifestyles well into their golden years. They’re also staying connected with technology and using it to stay engaged with the world around them. They’re also redefining aging and what it means to grow old. Baby boomers are changing the

width we think about aging. They’re proving that you don’t have to slow down or give up your passions just because you’re getting older. In fact, many baby boomers are starting new businesses traveling around the world and making the most of the retirement years. They’re a powerful force for change in our society. Baby boomers have always been of driving force for change. And they will remain so as they age. They can help bring about positive change in our society through their influence and influence on social media and issues such as climate change, healthcare reform, social justice, and much more. They have a lot to offer their communities in the world. As baby boomers age, they continue to contribute to their communities in a variety of ways. They’re making a difference in the world around them, whether through volunteering, mentoring, younger generations, or charitable donations. They’re also loyal to the brands that

they trust. So it’s important to build a relationship with them. Keep the following points in mind as you craft your marketing messages. They respond best to marketing strategies that focus on emotion over logic. They’d like to feel like they’re in control to give them options and let them make choices. Show them that you understand what they’re going through. They appreciate the sentiment, respect their intelligence, and don’t drop down to them because they do know what’s going on in the world. Appeal to their senses, use images, colors, and sounds that resonate with them. They respond best to marketing that is personal and relevant to their lives. Humor and storytelling are a powerful tool when marketing to seniors. They appreciate honesty and transparency from businesses. It’s important to keep in mind their physical limitations when marketing to them. Unni-platforms like social media and email are also effective means

reaching out to them. So what traits or characteristics set them apart from the rest of us? Well, there are a few key things that you find seniors. They include a strong work ethic, a dedication to family, a love of learning new things, a desire for independence, and the ability to adapt to change. The characteristics of older adults, such as these, have contributed to making this generation one of the most successful in history. Older adults have always been willing to work hard whether it’s in their careers or in taking care of their families. They’re also life-long learners, always looking for new opportunities to grow and improve. And when faced with challenges, they’ve shown time and time again that they’re capable of adapting and overcoming whatever comes their way. So it’s no wonder that seniors are often seen as an inspiration to younger generations. After all, they’ve set a high standard for what

If not, they might be losing senior consumers before they even have a chance to engage with your brand. Fourth, they’re social media users. Not only are senior tech savvy, they’re also active users of social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. So this presents a great opportunity for businesses that want to reach this demographic. So remember to keep your tone respectful in your messaging relevant.

The embarking seniors with irrelevant ads and content is a sure way to turn them off from your brand. Five, they’re brand conscious. Meaning, they’re more likely than other demographics to basically purchasing decisions on things like reputation, quality, and price point. As such, businesses need to make sure their branding is unpoint if they want to appeal to this group. This means having a strong visual identity that conveys the right message about your brand, using language that resonates with your target market and ensuring that every touch point from your website design down to the packaging of your product or consistent with your overall brand identity. Marketing effectively to seniors requires an understanding of what makes this demographic tick. From loyalty and skepticism to being tech savvy and social media users, businesses need to be aware of the specific characteristics that you find this group

They can also prevent seniors from getting the care and support they need. Well, let’s start with the fact that all seniors are not the same. Well, just like every 20-year-old is not the same. Every 80-year-old is not the same. So we are all individuals with their own unique instead of experiences, traits, and outlooks in life. All seniors are grumpy and crudity. Well, this is very hurtful and dangerous to assume that seniors are grumpy and crudity. These stereotypes create problems in our society by preventing genuine human connections and by limiting opportunities for seniors.

Seniors are set in their ways and resistant to change. Well, for example, if we assume that all seniors are resistant to change, we may miss out on implementing much-needed changes in our senior care communities or in the way that we design products for services for seniors. Seniors are always sick and always in the doctor’s office. Seniors are lonely and isolated. Seniors are helpless, independent, and others. Seniors are technologically challenged. Seniors don’t like to have fun. Depression is a normal part of aging. Dimension is an inevitable part of aging process. Well, if we believe that dementia in Alzheimer’s disease are inevitable parts of aging, we may give up on finding treatment or queers for these devastating diseases. Most accidents happen to seniors because they’re old and frail. Well, if we assume that most accidents happen to seniors because they’re old and frail, we may not take the necessary steps to

make sure that our environments are safe for everyone. You can’t teach an old dog new tricks. Seniors aren’t dogs and seniors aren’t interested in learning. Well, these myths about seniors are very harmful and create unnecessary barriers between generation. We need to open our minds and our hearts to the reality of aging in order to create a society that is truly inclusive and supportive of all members of the community. Well, hello, everyone. I will go through some fears of baby boomers heading into retirement. I will cite some information from Investopedia so that we know where their sources. By 2030, over 73 million Americans, age 65 and up, will be approaching retirement, accounting for approximately 21 percent of the population. According to the Census Bureau, this compares to 49 million or 15 percent in 2016. And while retirement should be a time to enjoy the fruits of your labor, for many baby boomers, it’s a time of anxiety and worry. According to recent study, baby boomers are the most fearful generation about retirement. Eight out of ten baby boomers reported having at least one major fears about retirement. Well, here are a few concerns. Running out of money in retirement. This is perhaps the biggest fear of all. With longer lifespans and uncertain economic conditions, many baby boomers are worried that they won’t have enough money to last them through their retirement

years, not being able to afford healthcare costs. Well, healthcare costs are rising at an alarming rate and retirees are often at a fixed income. This can make it difficult to keep up with rising costs and these many fearing that they’ll be unable to afford the care they need. Becoming a burden under children in other family members. No one wants to be a burden under loved ones. But as we age, it’s inevitable that we’ll need more help from others. This can be a source of great anxiety for many baby boomers who don’t want to be a burden under family. Dying before they have a chance to enjoy retirement. For many baby boomers, retirement is something they’ve been looking for for a year. But with longer lifespans comes with increased risk of not making it to retirement. This is a real fear for many nearing retirement age, losing their independence and having to rely on others for help. Independence is something most of us take for granted. But as we age,

we may need help with everyday tasks like cooking, cleaning, and even bathing. This loss of independence can be very difficult to come in terms with and can cause anxiety about the future, having to give up your hobbies. For many people, your hobbies are an important part of their lives and give them a sense of purpose and fulfillment. Having to give up these activities due to physical limitations can be difficult to accept for some baby boomers heading into retirement. Being bored in retirement. Well, after years of working full-time jobs, some baby boomers find themselves bored in retirement with nothing to do all day except for hats, watch TV, or read books. While this may sound like heaven to some, it is extremely depressing for others who fear that they will never find anything that brings them joy again after retiring from working completely. The fear of moving into a nursing home or assisted living community.

For many baby boomers, the thought of having to move into a nursing home or assisted living communities is a scary one. The reason for this is that there is a widespread misconception that these communities are places where people go to die. And while there are certainly some people who do end up dying in nursing homes and assisted living, but there are also many people who live healthy lives in these places. The concern about memory loss and dementia. Well, this is understandable given that memory loss and dementia are a very real risk for some. As they age, however, it’s important to remember that not everyone who experienced memory loss or dementia will end up in a nursing home or assisted living. In fact, many people who experience these problems are able to live relatively functional lives with the help of families and friends. The fear of being alone in retirement. Another fear among baby boomers about retiring is being alone. This is understandable

given that many baby boomers are facing retirement without a spouse or partner. However, there are some ways to overcome this fear, such as joining social club or participating in community activities, support groups, and online forum. Understanding senior spheres allows you to begin to understand their specific needs and plan how to market to them. Keep these things in mind if you’re targeting seniors and your marketing campaigns. So this requirement can be met in a variety of ways. One option is to offer products and services that help seniors to live independently. Well, here’s just a few automatic pill dispensers, home health aids,

GPS tracking devices, fall detectors, remote monitoring system. So let’s talk about connection. As people age, they often become more interested in staying connected with friends and family members. Providing opportunities for seniors to interact with other people in their community is one way to meet the need of connection. This might include things like senior centers, social clubs, or religious organizations. Participating in these activities can help seniors feel connected and engage with the world around them. So let’s talk about comfort. Seniors often want something cozy, comfortable place to call home. They may prefer self furniture or warmer colors. This is especially true for seniors who suffer from conditions like arthritis or dementia. Convenience. Seniors often appreciate convenience features like grab bars in a bathroom or lovers instead of nabs and doors. These small changes can make a big difference in the quality of

life for seniors. For those who have difficulty feeding due to tremors or other hand movement issues. A spoon with a stabilizing handle that gives us more control over the spoon and comes in various sizes. So that’s another thing would be a great product to have. Another one is a standing frame that allows seniors who have difficulty sitting or standing for extended periods of time so that they can do it comfortably and safely. So as we age, it’s important to keep the seniors’ needs and wants in mind. For seniors, this means making sure that their homes are accessible, comfortable, and convenient. And by understanding the needs and wants of senior consumers, we can better serve them and help them enjoy their golden years. You know, you can try putting yourself in the shoes of senior consumers. Imagine that you’re a senior who is trying to live independently in your home. What kinds of things would make your life easier? What would make

you feel more comfortable and safe? And by trying to see things from their perspective, you’ll be able to understand their needs and wants. What was once a simple trip to the grocery store is now a daunting task. And even something as simple as buying a new pair of shoes can seem insurmountable. So businesses can develop products and services that make seniors lives easier and more enjoyable by taking the time to truly understand their needs and concerns. So next time, you’re considering a new product or service, don’t be afraid to ask seniors for their opinion to their surveys via forms. You can also create blogs or podcasts where seniors share their thoughts on various topics related to product testing and consumerism. Also, use hashtags, for instance, hashtags, senior opinions on Twitter or Instagram. That can also be used to tweet on a post in those two platforms. You can also create Facebook group specifically for discussions between

businesses and seniors about product testing and consumerism. Seniors are also great at finding products and services that work well in our worth the money because they’ve been around for a while. They’ve had the chance to try out lots of different products and services and they know which ones are worth their time and money. Their perspective is often more holistic. Seniors often take a more long-term view. This means that they’re more likely to consider all aspects of a product or service before making a decision. As a marketer, it’s important to always be aware of latest consumer trends. This helps ensure that your products and services are relevant and appealing to your target audience. From a recent study from McKinsey, here are a few key trends emerging among senior consumers. The first trend we’re seeing is that seniors are becoming more tech savvy. A recent study from the Pew Research Study indicates that four in 10 seniors now own smartphones. This is a significant increase from just a few years ago. So as seniors become more comfortable with technology, they’re also becoming more reliant on it. So whether it’s using a self-checkout machine at the grocery store or keeping up with family and Facebook, seniors are using technology to make their lives easier. Seniors are using the

internet for things like banking, shopping, and researching health information. Some seniors are even learning how to code. Technology can be really helpful for people who want to stay active and engage as they get older. So the internet can be a great resource for finding deals on things like travel and entertainment. And some seniors are even sharing their life experiences online by starting blogs or sharing their online dating experience. So this trend has a few implications for marketers. You should consider creating content that is geared towards seniors. This could include tips for using new technology or even stories about how technology has made life easier for seniors. Other content could be, let’s say, recipes, health tips, exercise ideas for seniors, promoting positive stereotypes of aging adults in the media, feature inspiring seniors doing amazing things and offer advice on overcoming common struggles. And another thought is

offer advice on how to manage finances and retirement. Okay, so the second trend that we’re seeing is that seniors are becoming more health conscious. Nearly 80% of seniors said that they are interested in learning more about healthy eating habits. This is a significant increase from just a few years ago. As seniors become more aware of their health, they’re also becoming more interested in taking steps to improve it. So this trend has a few implications for marketers as well. It’s important to make sure that your products and services are relevant to seniors’ health concerns. This could include anything from fitness trackers to healthy cooking recipes, blog posts about staying healthy as you age and tips for making healthier choices in your everyday life.
